Mazda CX-30 and Mazda CX-5: what are the main differences?
June 30 2022,
On the surface, the CX-30 and CX-5 SUVs in the Mazda lineup offer consumers essentially the same thing. While it's true that both share many elements, such as a successful design, competent mechanicals and a very convincing driving experience, they also differ on certain points.
And these points often make all the difference for the buyer, directing him to one model rather than the other. The important thing to remember is that you make a good choice with both. What matters now is making the right selection for you, based on your needs.
Cargo volume
Do you often carry bulky items? Does your second seat often lie down because you need the rear volume to put a lot of stuff in? If you answered yes to these questions, the CX-5 is the one for you. In all, it offers 1,687 liters of cargo space behind the first row, much more than the 1,280 liters of the CX-30. Even with all the seats in place, the difference is noticeable; the CX-50's trunk can hold 875 liters of gear, the CX-30's only 572.
Frugality
On the other hand, if you don't need all that space in the back, the CX-30 will win you over. Its ride is just as dynamic as the CX-5's. Even the performance is slightly better due to the fact that it weighs about 150 kg less.
At the pump, with the engines that are common to both models (2.5-litre 4-cylinder and 2.5-litre turbo 4-cylinder), there is a difference of about 0.5 liters per 100 kilometers.
Even better, the CX-30 can be delivered with a smaller engine (2-litre 4-cylinder) that is even more economical. That's when savings can be pushed to about one liter per 100 kilometers.
Both models offer high-quality interior environments, comfort to spare, driving dynamics that are unique in the industry, concrete warranties, and reliability to spare.
