A Quick Look at the New 2023 Mazda CX-50
December 21 2022,
The new 2023 Mazda CX-50 is a midsize SUV that plays both the premium and rugged cards in the Mazda lineup due to its styling and its features. Here is what you should know about it.
A rugged exterior
The 2023 Mazda CX-50 adopts an exterior appearance that blends both the new upscale Mazda look and a more adventurous personality that is achieved by adding plastic cladding around the body. This makes the CX-50 look ready to tackle any kind of terrain, without looking out of place in the city. This style is not all for show either since the CX-50 benefits from a higher ground clearance than most of its competitors and the Meridian Edition comes standard with all-terrain tires. Available accessories such as the roof platform and the roof tent accentuate the CX-50’s capabilities and its ruggedness.
A premium interior
Inside, the 2023 Mazda CX-50 is definitely more premium than its competitors in terms of appearance and features. Inspired by the interiors of the recent Mazda 3 and CX-30, the CX-50 offers a cabin that looks like it belongs in a more expensive vehicle. This is accompanied by the many standard and available features that include leather upholstery, a 360-degree camera system, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, a heads-up display, and a complete list of active safety features such as the rear cross-traffic alert, the forward collision warning, and the Traffic Jam Assist.
How it compares with the CX-5
The Mazda CX-50 is not the only midsize SUV in the Mazda lineup, since the CX-5 continues to be one of the brand’s most popular models. Apart from its distinctive appearance, the CX-50 differs from the CX-5 by its dimensions. Indeed, it is longer, wider, and lower than the CX-5, which gives it a sleeker profile. This is also beneficial for the passenger’s legroom, but the CX-5 benefits from more headroom and more cargo room overall. Both SUVs are very similar under the body, however, since they share the same two SkyActiv powertrains.
