2020 Mazda3 Sport: Versatility combined with driving pleasure

The Mazda3 Sport designates the hatchback version of the Mazda3 lineup, but above all it designates an impressively styled car that delivers great versatility combined with impressive handling regardless of road conditions thanks to the availability of all-wheel drive. Add to that a recently announced new turbo engine that can deliver up to 250 horsepower and you have a truly unique car.

The 2020 Mazda3 Sport is particularly popular in Quebec where buyers still appreciate good old hatchbacks.

Both the Mazda3 sedan and the Mazda3 Sport have the same engine and the same interior fittings; it’s just the body style that changes. And this time around, Mazda has redoubled its efforts to rethink its Sport model. Gone are the days of bulbous tailgate and a big smile up front. Instead, Mazda implemented the nose-to-tail KODO design and it shows in this latest look.

Along with the new powertrain setup, which we'll cover in a bit, one of the coolest things about the 2020 Mazda3 Sport is the all-new SKYACTIV-G engine. The proven 155-hp, 150-lb-ft, 2.0L 4-cylinder mill is still on offer, but there's also a 186-hp, 186-lb-ft 2.5L inline-four. A manual transmission is available for the entire 2020 Mazda3 Sport lineup.

The most interesting update to the 2020 Mazda3 Sport is of course the introduction of the Mazda i-Activ AWD system in 2019. It is programmed to drive the front wheels under normal conditions but can send up to 50% of power at the rear if conditions require. This new all-wheel drive system works great with Mazda's G-Vectoring system, which reduces engine torque as you steer through a corner at high speed to load the front tires and provide more responsive feedback.

In the 2020 Mazda3 Sport, you'll discover an updated infotainment system that's much more user-friendly, along with an interior that's both aesthetically pleasing and comfortable, with plenty of room for passengers and luggage.
